About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist or artist team to design, fabricate, and install a major outdoor sculpture with a water feature at Pompano Community Park. The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. The total budget for this project is $150,000, with $147,000 allocated for the artwork and $3,000 to fund shortlisted artists' designs. All fees, including insurance, taxes, permits, delivery, interior lighting, installation, and engineering, are included in the overall budget.
The commissioned artwork must be a sculpture with a water feature element of significant size, not exceeding 22 feet by 22 feet. Interior lighting is allowed. The water feature sculpture should be draining and not contain standing water. The artwork can be representational or non-representational. Water and interior light, if included, must be on a timer. The location is at the main entrance to Pompano Community Park Aquatics Center off NE 18th St., and the artwork should be centered to the flag poles.
Applicants must submit a detailed budget list and be familiar with the location site. Artists are responsible for installation and obtaining all necessary permits prior to fabrication. The design must be code compliant, meet Florida Building Code requirements, and withstand South Florida weather conditions and wind load requirements. The City has an unlimited, perpetual, and irrevocable right to use or reproduce the artwork in any non-commercial or commercial manner. Payment will be made in five invoices: 10% upon agreement execution, upon final design approval, upon 50% fabrication, upon 100% fabrication, and after installation and final approval. Work sample requirements: 2-5 images.
