About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach seeks an artist or artist team to design, fabricate, and install a free-standing sculpture at an entrance to the city located on the east side of McNab Road and Powerline Road. The artwork must be a standalone sculpture incorporating themes of futuristic, industrial, contemporary urban, power, and energy. No logos are permitted. The artist can select an exact location from a designated area for the Public Art Committee to review.
The project budget is $50,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, delivery, exterior lighting, installation, and engineering. Applicants must submit a detailed budget list. The artist is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits, ensuring the design meets Florida Building Code requirements, and that the sculpture can withstand South Florida weather conditions and wind load requirements. The artist is also responsible for installation, and the City will not provide additional funds beyond the established budget or reimburse costs not accounted for in the proposal.
Payment will be made in five invoices: 10% upon execution of the agreement, upon approval of final design/engineering, upon 50% fabrication with documentation, upon 100% fabrication with documentation, and after installation and final approval. The project is open to professional artists nationwide. Entry deadline: November 26, 2019.
