About This Call

Polymer Journeys 2019 is a call for submissions for a book series celebrating polymer art. The series aims to provide a regular retrospective of polymer art, advancing the art world's view of polymer as a quality art medium and offering artists, gallery owners, curators, and teachers insight into the trends and direction of the art form.

Submissions must feature polymer as a primary component—either as the primary material or focal point of the piece. Entries should be recently created, completed in 2016, 2017, or 2018. Artists may submit up to 5 pieces. Each submission requires a primary image of the artwork plus optional alternate views, sketches, notes, or progress photos. Images must be a minimum of 1200 pixels on the short side, maximum 5 MB per file, in JPG format, with no identifying watermarks.

With each primary artwork image, include the title, primary materials used, dimensions, year completed, photographer or collaboration credit if applicable, and a 50-200 word description addressing the inspiration, process, or design reasoning. For alternate images, include the associated artwork title and a brief explanation of what the image shows. Early submission deadline for cover consideration is September 3. Final submission deadline is September 19. Jury results will be notified by October 1, with a proposed release date of November 1. Contact: [email protected]
