Point Betsie Photography Contest & Exhibit

This photography competition is open to anyone in the United States at any skill level who is at least 18 years old. Photographs made within the last 5 years are eligible, created with any kind of camera or imaging device. Digital editing is permitted, including high dynamic range, star stacking, panoramas, and focus stacking composites, though the jurors reserve the right to reject works that are overly or heavily composited from multiple exposures.

All work must include a portion of the main lighthouse structure within the photograph. Up to 3 images may be submitted, with a $30 entry fee for the first image and $10 for each additional image (up to 3 total). Fees are non-refundable. Diptychs, triptychs, or panoramas may be submitted as a single entry if they meet the same requirements and do not exceed 768 square inches. All accepted photographs must be matted or floated under glass or acrylic, framed in wood or metal, and wired for hanging. Clip frames are unacceptable. The maximum framed size is 24" x 32" (or 768 square inches). Artists must assign a sale price or mark pieces NFS. The Point Betsie Gift Shop Gallery retains a 30% sales commission and handles all transactions. Prices are binding and cannot be changed after submission.

Digital submissions must be JPG files under 5MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Entries will be juried by Mark Lindsey of Traverse City, Jay Burt of Frankfort, and Steve Loveless of Beulah, all working artists who portray Point Betsie Lighthouse. All entries will receive an "invited" or "not invited" response by end of day June 11. Accepted works can be delivered in person or shipped via UPS only to Point Betsie Lighthouse, 3701 Point Betsie Rd, Frankfort, MI 49635 between June 21-28, 2019. Shipped works must include return packaging, labels, and paid shipping and insurance. Artwork unclaimed 30 days after the exhibition closes becomes property of The Friends of Point Betsie Lighthouse, Inc. Winners will be notified on opening day by email. Awards will be presented August 6, 2019. Cash prizes include a $1000 Grand Prize (determined by jury), $500 first place, $250 second place, and $100 third place (determined by lighthouse visitors who purchase admission tickets to vote).
