About This Call
Create a sideboard, console, or cabinet that embodies the spirit and discipline in the work of Sebastian Errazuriz, a Chilean industrial designer and artist known for his thought-provoking, functional, and often surreal furniture, sculptures, and installations. His work blends art, design, and technology, challenging conventional aesthetics and exploring themes like life, death, and consumer culture. Designs must consider quality of design and materials, user experience (must be functional), provoke thought, and include elements of humor.
Submissions must include: an 11" x 17" full color high resolution graphic presentation with title only; 3-D images of design in context and scale (3 image maximum); 3-5 high resolution images at 300dpi with title of entry and no indication of student name or school; and a 300-word maximum design statement. All work must be uploaded to the Café system by Wednesday, November 7, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Judging will occur November 8-10, 2025, with winners announced and feedback provided on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. EST via Zoom.
Eligibility is open to students currently enrolled in a college or university. Judges include Barry Richards (The Rockwell Group), Christian Larsen (Christian Larsen Consulting), Ashlee Harrison (Palace Intrigue, NYC), Tiffany Lambert (Philadelphia Museum of Art), and Lewis Wexler (Wexler Gallery). Prizes: First Prize $800, Second Prize $500, Third Prize $300, and two Honorable Mentions at $200 each. Winning projects will be published on the Philadelphia Museum of Art website and Collab online journal, and displayed through Collab and Philadelphia Museum of Art social media platforms.
