About This Call

The City of Frisco Public Art Program is issuing a Request for Qualifications for a public art opportunity at Plum Creek Park. This 5.8-acre neighborhood park is located at the southeast corner of Plum Creek Drive and Stonebrook Parkway, adjacent to Bledsoe Elementary and Pearson Middle School. The park improvements will include a shade structure, children's playground, multi-use court, walking trails, open practice fields, exercise stations, site furnishings, park signage and landscape improvements. Public art may be integrated into facility elements such as entryways, pavilions, benches, pavement, and play spaces, provided the art does not affect the integrity of the element itself.

The public artwork should create a sense of entry with unique identity for the park, encourage discovery through topography or placed amenities, reflect inspiration from surrounding developments or Frisco's natural environment, and reflect Frisco's values of inventiveness and celebration. The art should be engaging for children of all ages and families, welcoming to visitors, visually attractive, make the park unique, and be made of low maintenance, permanent materials.

The project budget is $22,000.00 all-inclusive, encompassing artist fees, fabrication costs, transportation, insurance, engineering services, permit fees, site prep, installation, and all other related expenses. Qualifications must be submitted online by 4:00 p.m. CST, Tuesday, December 27, 2016, and should include a completed submission cover page, typed cover letter describing interest in the project, artist resume (no longer than three pages), three references with contact information, and 5-15 images of past work with the first five being most relevant to this RFQ. The Artist Selection Committee will evaluate qualifications based on demonstrated excellence of past work, quality of professional qualifications and relevant experience, stated interest and approach, and ability to create work meeting project goals. Finalists may be requested to develop proposals or be interviewed. Questions should be submitted to [email protected] by 4 p.m. CST on Tuesday, December 13, 2016.
