PleinAir Salon Art Competition - July 2025

The PleinAir Salon is a monthly online art competition open to artists 18 years and older from any state or country where acceptable by law. Entries are limited to 25 paintings per artist per monthly competition across 19 categories.

Eligibility Requirements: All entries must be original compositions painted 100% by the entering artist. Paintings cannot be based on another person's photograph (even copyright-free images) or be copies of other artists' work. Plein air category entries must be completed 100% in plein air, though this can occur over multiple sessions. Photography, AI, digital work, and printed or painted-over photographs are prohibited. Employees or associates of Streamline Publishing, Inc., or their immediate families may not enter.

Entry Fees: Early Bird (1st-15th of month): First entry $29, additional entries $12 each. Regular (16th-month-end): First entry $40, additional entries $16 each. Entry deadline is July 31, 2025. Entries are submitted as high-quality JPEG files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB.

Awards: Grand Prize winner receives $15,000 plus painting featured on PleinAir Magazine cover. Additional awards include Second Place ($3,000), Third Place ($2,000), three Honorable Mention Awards ($700 each), six Best Medium Awards ($450 each), Artist's Choice Award ($200), 19 category awards ($50 each), and 19 Honorable Mention awards. Grand Prize can only be won once per artist. Winners are announced on the last day of the month following the competition. Monthly winners are automatically entered into the Annual PleinAir Salon Competition. Judging is blind, with judges including prominent artists, gallery owners, and museum curators and directors.
