About This Call
Artists from across Colorado are invited to submit their qualifications to participate in one day of plein air painting in Superior's Purple Park on Saturday, September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A rain date has been scheduled for the following Saturday. Purple Park is located at 1310 S. Pitkin Avenue in Superior, Colorado and features two ponds, rolling hills, flowers, a stream, and open areas with and without tree cover.
Superior's Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Advisory Committee (CAPS) will select up to 15 artists who will each receive a $200 honorarium. Selected artists may be paired with a young aspiring artist for one hour during the event to mentor them in plein air painting. After the event, each artist will submit their finished painting(s) in December 2023 for a three-month exhibition at the Superior Community Center beginning in January 2024.
Applicants must submit a brief letter of interest detailing experience with plein air painting, 3 to 6 digital images of current or past artwork with a corresponding list describing each image (purchase price or value, dimensions, title, media), and a resume. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older, U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents, and reside in Colorado.
