Plein Air Event at East Side Art Institute

East Side Art Institute's annual Plein Air Event invites artists 18 and older to paint on location over two days, September 23-24, 2023. Twenty artists will gather on the institute's 14-acre campus in Boulder County to capture the landscape through plein air techniques. The campus features majestic cottonwood trees, vibrant flowers, mulberry bushes, and towering old pine trees.

The event includes artist arrival and registration on Saturday, September 23, followed by an all-day paint-out and welcome reception. On Sunday, September 24, artists will continue painting throughout the day, concluding with an Awards Reception, Exhibition, and Sale event. If weather affects the event, it will be rescheduled to the following weekend.

To apply, submit 1-3 JPEG images (300 DPI, max 4000 pixels on longest side) of artwork representative of the style and medium you plan to create during the event, along with an artist bio and statement. The non-refundable entry fee is $35. Applications must be submitted electronically by September 4, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will be notified by September 5, with artist invitations and agreements sent via email. Artists must confirm participation by September 7.
