Pleasant Hill Public Art

The City of Pleasant Hill is seeking public art proposals for a project that will transform the roadway into a gateway into the future population center of the community as Pleasant Hill's growth continues to the east.

The final project when completed and installed should add to and integrate with the City of Pleasant Hill by expressing community values and heightening awareness for people of all ages who work, live or visit Pleasant Hill; communicating the experience of the community in both its diversity and its unity; and contributing to a sense of citizen ownership and pride. The artwork should enrich the lives in the community by advancing the best of public art, stimulating the eye, mind and spirit of the public, and serving as cultural and tourism resources that celebrate Pleasant Hill's unique qualities, character, history, pride and sense of place.

The public art project should be visible and appealing for both drive-by and pedestrian viewing and must take into consideration the safety of the public. The material and structure of the artwork must be suitable for an outdoor environment and be able to withstand local climate extremes of hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The selected proposal must not require more than minimal maintenance. Submissions should include 6-10 images. International artists are eligible to apply.
