About This Call

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences invites ceramic artists to submit work for "Plates, Platters and Nothing Else Matters," a national juried competition. Juror Roberto Lugo, an Assistant Professor at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, will select approximately 80 works for exhibition. The competition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the continental US.

Eligibility and Specifications: Entries must be primarily ceramic works created within the last two years and not previously exhibited at LBIF. Singular plates/platters or sets should not exceed 3 feet in width and 3 feet in height, and not exceed 25 lbs. Installations may not exceed 6 ft in width and 7 ft in height. Works exceeding 12 inches must be securely wired for hanging. All submitted work must be available for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale. Do not submit work with a retail value over $10,000. Artists must provide return postage or UPS/FedEx account information.

Awards and Details: The juror will award $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place, plus an additional $1,000 "Muddies" prize. The entry fee is $35 for up to three entries. Accepted artists will be notified by June 29th. Work must be delivered by July 19th. The exhibition runs July 27 through August 12, 2018. The LBIF retains a 40% commission on all works sold or commissioned. Submit 1-3 JPEG images (1200 pixels or greater on longest side, under 5 MB) along with an artist statement and resume via the online application portal.
