About This Call
Plantarium 2022 is an international art competition and publication opportunity open to all visual artists working in any medium worldwide. The call invites artists to share their visual story of the plant world and create botanical expressions inspired by trees, leaves, flowers, herbs, vegetables, forests, grass, and their diverse uses. All real and imaginary interpretations of the subject in abstract or figurative style are welcome.
Selected artworks will be exhibited online from September 15 to October 15, 2022, and may be published in The Book of Arts publication, which is distributed internationally to art experts, galleries, curators, and enthusiasts. Three artists with the highest artwork ranks will be selected as public choice winners and receive cash prizes: USD 500 (First Prize), USD 300 (Second Prize), and USD 200 (Third Prize). Selected artists will also receive a digital certificate, online profile page on the Biafarin platform, exhibition catalogue listing, social media promotional badges, and a report with engagement analytics.
Artists can submit up to 5 original artworks; maximum 2 artworks will be selected per artist. Submission is free; only selected artists pay a USD 40 selection fee. Artworks must be entirely the artist's original work in 2D or 3D media, including painting, drawing, illustration, photography, digital art, sculpture, mixed media, and other visual formats. There is no size limit or restriction on artwork creation year, though artworks created within the last 5 years are preferred. Artwork photos should show only the artwork without frames or extraneous backgrounds.
