About This Call
The Plano Art Association 125 Show is open to all artists 18 and older living within a 125-mile radius of Plano, Texas. The entry fee is $35 for non-members or $25 for current PAA members. Submissions must include 1-3 images of original artwork completed within the last two years without instructor supervision.
Three categories are available: 2-D Artwork, 3-D Artworks, and Printmaking/Photography (Traditional & Digital). Each category will be awarded first place ($400), second place ($200), and third place ($100). Artwork must be original and not previously accepted into the 125 Show or THE ARTS gallery. Maximum frame size is 50 x 50 inches in either dimension; sculpture must not exceed 4 x 4 feet. All wall-hanging works must be wired with screw eyes or D-rings, ready to hang with backing. The gallery cannot hang works with saw tooth hangers. Paintings with loose or damaged frames will not be accepted. The college has plinths available for three-dimensional works and a ceiling grid for hanging works in the center of the space.
The show runs from April 28 through May 17, 2014, with a reception and awards presentation on May 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (announcement at 6:30 p.m.). Submission of images is due April 4. Notification of acceptance will be sent April 10 or 11. Artwork delivery is April 16, 17, or Monday April 21 during college hours. Art pick-up is May 19 through Wednesday, May 21. All sales are handled through the Plano Art Association with no commission taken by the gallery or PAA; as a non-profit organization, PAA requests a volunteer 15% donation in the event of a sale. The artist is liable for arranging payment of sales tax. Jurors are artist Midge Lynn and John Marcucci, Director and President of Haley-Henman Gallery LLC.
