About This Call
The Plano Art Association "125" Show is an annual juried exhibition held at The Arts Gallery in Plano, located in the Collin County College Arts Department gallery. Open to all artists 18 and older living within 125 miles of Plano, TX, the show exhibits artistic talent from the Metroplex area in a professionally run gallery setting. The show runs from March 21 through April 11, 2013, with a reception and awards presentation on March 28.
There are three categories: Two-Dimensional, Three-Dimensional, and Print & Photography. Each category will be awarded first, second, and third place prizes ($500, $350, and $150 respectively), plus an overall Grand Prize of $1,000. The show will be juried by artist Bonny Leibowitz and Jordan Roth, director of Ro2 Art in Dallas. Entry fee is $35 for non-members and $25 for current Plano Art Association members. Artists may submit up to three artworks, and one per artist may be selected by the jurors. Submission deadline is February 15, 2013. Acceptance notifications will be sent by February 25 or 26. Artwork delivery is March 11-14, and pickup is April 12-13. Artists who do not pick up their work during this time will be charged a storage fee of $4 per day.
Artwork must be original and completed within the last two years without instructor supervision. Work previously accepted into the 125 Show or THE ARTS gallery is ineligible. Maximum frame size is 50 x 50 inches in either dimension; sculpture must not exceed 4 x 4 feet. All wall-hanging works must be wired with screw eyes or D-rings and ready to hang with backing. The gallery cannot hang works with sawtooth hangers. All sales are handled through the Plano Art Association with no commission taken; the PAA requests a voluntary 15% donation in the event of a sale. The artist is liable for arranging payment of sales tax. As a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, all revenue is put back into shows, workshops, and opportunities for artists. Fees are non-refundable, and submission does not guarantee acceptance.
