Places and Spaces

Decagon Gallery invites photographers worldwide to submit work for Places and Spaces, an online exhibition exploring the environments we inhabit, pass through, or imagine. From sweeping landscapes to quiet corners, from bustling streets to solitary rooms, this show seeks to highlight the ways spaces shape us—and how we, in turn, shape them. All interpretations are welcome: documentary or conceptual, urban or rural, personal or political, literal or abstract.

Submit up to 10 images in JPEG or JPG format (minimum 2100 px on the longest side). Entry fee is $24 for up to 4 images, then $4 for each additional image. The deadline is July 7, 2025. All photographers internationally over 18 are eligible to apply.

Awards include First Place ($500 cash prize and online solo exhibition), Second Place ($300 cash prize), Third Place ($200 cash prize), Director's Choice Award, and Honorable Mentions. All selected photographers receive a digital award badge. Selected work will be published in a printed exhibition catalog and featured in a short video on YouTube and the gallery website. The exhibition runs July 15 through September 15, 2025, then remains archived on the gallery website. The juror is Matthew Christopher, who holds an MFA in Fine Art Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology and a BA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University.
