Pittsburgh Watercolor Society Aqueous Open 2023 International

The Pittsburgh Watercolor Society presents this international exhibition open to watercolor artists throughout the world. Artists may work in traditional transparent watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, or egg tempera. Work must be water media on paper (Yupo is accepted); no other surfaces are accepted. Collage, pastels, digital images, prints, or reproductions are not eligible. Only original work is accepted—no class work, work done under supervision, or copies of another artist's work. Work must have been completed within the last two years and not previously shown in a PWS exhibit. Minimum image size is 12" x 12"; maximum size is at the artist's discretion. Artists may submit up to two entries, but only one piece will be accepted. Entry fee is $45.00.

All work must be for sale at current market value. Sales are handled through PWS, with the artist receiving 70% of the sale price and Pittsburgh Watercolor Society receiving 30%. PA sales tax will be added to the sale price. If purchased, the artist is responsible for shipping the painting with matting and backer to the buyer.

This year's juror is Kathleen Conover, a signature member and repeated award recipient in AWS (Dolphin Fellow), NWS (Master Artist), and ISEA (Dolphin Fellow). Awards are selected from received work, with the Best of Show award of $1,200 and over $5,000 in total cash and prize awards. Awards will be announced on October 7th, 2023. Entries must be submitted online by September 8, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
