About This Call

Pirate: Contemporary Art announces its 2016 juried art exhibition. Founded over 35 years ago, this eclectic, alternative gallery space presents cutting-edge contemporary artworks from Denver. Dean Sobel, Director of the Clyfford Still Museum, will jury the 2016 show. Sobel previously served as Director of the Aspen Art Museum (2000–2005) and Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at the Milwaukee Art Museum (1995–2000).

Entry fee is $35.00. Artists must submit 3 images of their work. The submission deadline is October 23, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will be notified on November 4. The exhibition runs November 25 – December 11, 2016, with an opening reception on December 2.

Selected work must be dropped off at Pirate: Contemporary Art, 3655 Navajo St. Denver, CO 80211 on November 20 during gallery hours (Thurs 6-9pm, Fri 6-10pm, Sat 12-6pm, Sun 12-5pm). Alternatively, work may be shipped to Pirate Contemporary Art Juried Exhibition, c/o Charles Livingston, 1240 Cody St., Lakewood, CO 80215 (all shipped work must have correct return postage). Work exceeding 4 feet in either direction or work that is complicated to install must be installed by the artist and/or an artist representative. Pick up is December 11 after 5pm.
