About This Call
Pirate: Contemporary Art announces its 2018 juried art exhibition. Founded over 35 years ago, this eclectic, alternative gallery space presents cutting-edge contemporary art from Denver and the region. The 2018 "Open Entry" exhibition will be juried by Michael Paglia, art critic for Westword and an art historian whose essays have appeared in Art News, Architecture, Art Ltd., Modernism, Art & Auction, and Sculpture Magazine. He taught art history at the University of Colorado Denver.
Entry fee is $35.00. Artists must submit 3 images of their work. The submission deadline is June 28, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will be notified on July 2. Work can be dropped off at the gallery (7130 W. 16th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214) on July 8, or shipped to Pirate Contemporary Art Juried Exhibition, c/o Charles Livingston, 1240 Cody St., Lakewood, CO 80215 (all shipped work must have correct return postage). The opening reception is July 13, with the exhibition running July 13-29. Pick up is July 29 after 5pm. Any work exceeding 4 feet in either direction or work that is complicated to install must be installed by the artist and/or an artist representative.
