About This Call

Pip Squeak: Small Works, Big Vision is an exhibition at the Northbrook Public Library, running November 14 - December 19, 2014. The show is open to artists 18 years and older. All 2D and 3D entries must be original and executed within three years of the entry date, and must not have been previously displayed in the Library. This is the exhibition's 12th year and is intended to enhance the library's profile as a place of arts and culture.

The theme celebrates big vision in a small package. Works should not exceed 12 inches in any direction for 2D works and 9 inches for 3D works. Art can be in any media and cover any subject matter, and will be judged on the merit of the art and the judge's evaluation of the artist's execution. The exhibition is open to the general public and artwork must be viewable by all ages.

Awards include a $2,000 purchase prize (winning piece purchased for permanent display), $1,000 second place, $500 third place, and $200 Viewer's Choice award. The entry fee is $40. A maximum of 5 entries per artist will be judged. All selected artists will be included in an online exhibition catalog on the library's website with links to artists' websites for one year. Each artist will receive one poster and 15 postcards for promotional purposes. The NPL does not charge a commission on sales; all sales inquiries will be referred to artists. Submissions must be made online at www.callforentry.org and must be received by May 31, 2014. Digital submissions should be 72 dpi JPG files, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, with file size not exceeding 3 MB. 2D works must be framed and wired for hanging. All accepted work must be available for the full duration of the show. Works may be delivered by hand or shipped; shipped work must be received by November 7. Hand-delivered works must be picked up during library business hours (M-F 9-5) from December 22-30. For further information, contact Celina Preston at (847) 272-7035 or [email protected].
