Pikes Peak Watercolor Society International Watermedia Exhibition 2021

The 2021 International Watermedia Exhibition will be juried by Alvaro Castagnet, one of the world's most highly respected watercolor artists. The exhibition provides contemporary water media artists an opportunity to exhibit their works in a well-trafficked and well-lighted venue while offering the public the opportunity to view and contemplate the styles, design, and composition of the works. Estimated $5,000 in cash and merchandise awards will be presented.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years or older. All entries must be of original design and personal execution, not done in a class or workshop setting. No copies of another artist's work or recognizable use of copyrighted intellectual property will be accepted. Paintings must be predominantly watermedia (watercolor, acrylic, casein, or gouache) on paper, claybord, Yupo, illustration board, silk, or canvas. Work must not be more than 3 years old and not previously shown in a PPWS Watermedia Exhibition. Only one painting will be accepted from each individual artist. Computer-generated art and prints are not allowed. Collage material must be painted by the artist using watermedia only.

Artwork requirements: Maximum frame size is 1,430 square inches; maximum image size is 1,280 square inches; minimum image size is 80 square inches. Framed artwork must be single or double matted in white or off-white (colored liners permitted). All art must be framed, including gallery wrapped, with simple/narrow frames only. Entry fees are $30 for one image and $10 for each additional image (up to three total images). Entries are nonrefundable. Accepted artwork must be shipped to arrive between March 22-26, 2021, with a $35 domestic or $50 international handling fee. The formal show opening is April 27, 2021, with an awards reception at 5:00 PM and awards presentation at 6:00 PM. The exhibition closes May 30, 2021. PPWS will charge a 30% commission on sales. All accepted works must be professionally presented and ready for hanging with wire and hardware in place; no saw-tooth hangers. Works needing protection must use Plexiglass only.
