Pikes Peak Watercolor Society International Watermedia Exhibition 2019

The Pikes Peak Watercolor Society sponsors the International Watermedia Exhibition biennially. This exhibition is hosted by the Pikes Peak Library District, Library 21c, located at 1175 Chapel Hills Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years or older. Paintings must be predominantly watermedia (watercolor, acrylic, or gouache) on paper, claybord, Yupo, illustration board, silk, or canvas. Work must be original, not created in a class or workshop setting, and not previously shown in a PPWS Watermedia Exhibition. Work must not be more than 3 years old. No computer-generated art, prints, or copies of another artist's work are accepted. Only one painting per artist will be accepted.

Artwork must have a maximum frame size of 1430 square inches and maximum image size of 1280 square inches (minimum 80 square inches). All artwork must be framed with single or double matte in white or off-white only, with simple frames. Gallery-wrapped work is acceptable. All work must be professionally presented and ready for hanging with wire and hardware. Plexiglass protection is required; paintings under glass will not be accepted. Entry fees are $40 for non-members and $30 for members, with up to 3 entries per artist. Entries are submitted digitally through CallforEntry.org.

The juror is Martha Mans, AWS. Awards total over $5,000 in cash and merchandise: Best of Show - $2,000; Gold Award - $1,000; Founders Award - $250. Key dates include: notification of acceptance April 25, 2019; shipped art due May 30, 2019; hand-carried art due May 30, 2019 (9:00 AM-12:00 Noon); show opening June 4, 2019; awards reception June 13, 2019 (5:00 PM reception, 6:00 PM awards); exhibition closes July 30, 2019; pickup of paintings July 31, 2019 (9:00 AM-12:00 Noon). A 3-day workshop by Martha Mans titled "Dynamic Design" will be held June 12-14, 2019, with a cost of $250 for PPWS members and $300 for non-members. PPWS charges 30% commission on sales. Domestic shipping handling fee is $25; international is $50.
