Piedmont Craftsmen Fair 2008

Piedmont Craftsmen's Standards Committee annually selects new exhibiting members to join a group of over 350 craft professionals from throughout the Southeast who are recognized nationally and internationally for their excellence in technique and design. As a lifetime member, craft artists enjoy opportunities to exhibit and sell through the prestigious annual Fair and year-round gallery and shop, access to prominent collectors, and camaraderie with other high caliber professional colleagues.

Applicants must live and work in one of the Southeastern states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Piedmont Craftsmen accepts applications for craft work in the following media: clay, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, photography, printmaking, and wood. The Standards Committee searches for new exhibiting members whose body of work, whether contemporary or traditional, one of a kind or production, shows excellence and creativity in concept, design, and technique.

The selection process occurs in two phases. Phase 1 (Image Jury) requires submission of eight images representing the applicant's best work produced during the last two years, a completed jury application, artist statement, and $30 application fee. Results will be emailed in mid-May. Applicants who score above the median cutoff are invited to Phase 2 (Object Jury), held during Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair in November. Participants may choose an individual booth fee of approximately $580 (additional $75 for corner) or participate in a group exhibit booth for $125 plus 10% commission on sales. Object jury results will be mailed within three weeks of the Fair. Exhibiting members must pay annual dues of $70 for individuals or $80 for teams, exhibit in the New Members Show, and participate annually in the Fair, consign work to the gallery and shop, participate in exhibitions, or volunteer for the organization.
