Piedmont Craftsmen Exhibiting Member Jury

Piedmont Craftsmen's Standards Committee annually selects new exhibiting members to join over 350 craft professionals from throughout the Southeast recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in technique and design. Applicants must live and work in one of the 50 United States and work in the following media: clay, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, photography, printmaking, or wood.

The selection process occurs in two phases. Phase 1 (Image Jury): Applicants submit eight images representing their best work produced during the last two years (minimum six different works), a completed jury application, artist statement, and $30 application fee. Results are emailed in mid-May. Phase 2 (Object Jury): Applicants scoring above the median cutoff are invited to participate in the object jury during Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair, held the third weekend in November (November 16-18 in 2012). Participants choose either an individual booth fee of approximately $600 (additional $75 for corner; 10' x 10' size, includes pipe, drape, and electricity) or a group exhibit booth fee of $175 plus 25% commission on sales (submit 3-5 objects for sale). Artists with large-scale work may submit a minimum of three actual works. Object jury results are mailed within three weeks following the Fair.

As lifetime members, accepted craft artists enjoy opportunities to exhibit and sell through the annual Fair and year-round gallery and shop, access to prominent collectors, and a 10% discount on purchases at Piedmont Craftsmen's gallery and shop in Winston-Salem, NC. Members pay annual dues of $70 (individual) or $80 (team) and are expected to exhibit in the New Members Show and participate annually in the Fair, consign work to the gallery and shop, participate in exhibitions, or serve on the Board or Standards Committee.
