About This Call
Tri-Valley Municipalities are seeking artists to design the borders of wood frames with a 4-foot by 3-foot opening and 5-inch border all around. Designs should frame the scene and/or people standing in the frame. These frames will be placed outside in parks and downtown areas throughout the Tri-Valley, where visitors and residents are invited to stand in them and have their photos taken.
Artists should submit colored sketches of their designs using the provided blank frame template. Up to three designs per artist or art team are permitted. Artists are encouraged to consider themes that represent the Tri-Valley and its activities. Designs must be appropriate for public display and provide a clear representation of the final project. The frames will be 6 feet tall and on view from July 16 through September 30, 2022, at respective cities' Art Centers, Libraries, Community Centers, and Parks.
Selected artists will be notified by June 10, 2022. The Municipalities will provide the frame and graffiti varnish; artists must supply their own paint and brushes and paint the frames at their studio. Artists must be able to transport frames measuring 4 feet by 6 feet. Selected artists will receive a $300 stipend for their work. Frames are due back to the assigned city by July 8, 2022. Eligibility: Open to artists aged 18 and up who reside in one of the nine Bay Area Counties. Entry fee: $10. Submit up to three images and indicate preferred Tri-Valley city placement (Danville, Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, or San Ramon).
