About This Call
Photowork 2016 is the 29th Annual National Juried Photography Exhibition presented by Dutchess County Art Association and Barrett Art Center. The exhibition will be held Saturday, March 19 - Saturday, April 30, with an opening reception on Saturday, March 19, 3-5pm at Barrett Art Center, 55 Noxon Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
This is a premier national exhibition of new photographic images visited by art appreciators from a five-county area including parts of Connecticut and New York City. The show brings together photographers from across the country, with artists from 30 to 40 states represented each year. The exhibition celebrates the photograph as both fine art and social commentary, featuring traditional styles and cutting edge images including 35mm photographs, silver gelatin prints, digital prints, and pinhole camera pictures. Cash prizes are awarded.
Entry fee is $40 for the first four images plus $5 for each additional image (members of DCAA/BAC pay $30 plus $5 per additional image). Submissions must include 4-8 images. Work must have been completed within the last four years and not previously exhibited at DCAA/Barrett Art Center. Student projects are not eligible. Submitted entries should be no larger than 36 inches on the longest dimension. Accepted artwork must be properly mounted, framed and ready to hang. Selected works are due Wednesday, March 2nd - Friday, March 4th. Notifications will be sent the week of February 1st. The juror is Karen Irvine, Curator and Associate Director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago. For members, Barrett Art Center retains 25% commission on sales; for non-members, 40% commission is retained.
