PhotoMidwest Invitational 2014: Of Midwest, By Midwest

PhotoMidwest Invitational 2014 is a call for photographs with the theme "Of Midwest, By Midwest: Photography and Midwestern Culture." Entries must be by photographers based in the Midwestern United States or highlight the people, places, and culture of the Midwest. All photographic imagery is eligible, including traditional film, alternative process, digital, and all post-production techniques. For purposes of this exhibition, the Midwest is defined as: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Entry fees are $45 for the first three images, with PhotoMidwest members receiving a $10 discount. Up to two additional images may be submitted for $15 each. Submissions must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 images. The submission deadline is July 6, 2014. Exhibit-ready prints must be received at PhotoMidwest between September 1 and September 10 if being shipped, or may be delivered in person on September 12 between Noon and 6 PM to 303 S. Paterson St., Madison. The exhibition runs September 16 through November 30, 2014 at the Overture Center for the Arts, Galleries 1 and 2, Madison, WI.

Juror Wally Mason, director of the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University, will select three top images for cash awards: $500 for Best in Show, $250 for First Runner Up, and $100 for Second Runner Up. All selected photographers are invited to a reception and gallery walk on Thursday, September 25. Each selected image will be featured in PhotoMidwest's online Lumen Gallery and included in the exhibition catalog. Honorable Mention Awards include PhotoMidwest membership with access to interest groups, member shows, and discounted admission to PhotoMidwest Festival events.
