About This Call
The Adams County Visual Arts Commission, in association with the Adams County Office of Cultural Affairs and Communications Department, is soliciting proposals from professional photographers for the Adams County Human Services Center. The new 3-story, 314,650 square foot facility is located in the northeast corner of Westminster, west of I-25 and south of 120th Avenue between Huron and Pecos Streets. The building will house all 15 Human Service functions and serve an average of 500 clients per day.
The facility's design incorporates the theme "From Orchard to Innovation: Respecting the past, embracing the future," reflecting the property's history as a community orchard and its current use. Photographers should propose collections highlighting orchards, landscapes, and Colorado outdoors with emphasis on rhythm, wood/nature, linear elements, color, contrast, aesthetic beauty, and harvest. Photographs should not include images of individuals. Adams County will purchase exclusive rights to up to 350 photographs for interior and exterior display, with approximately 20% printed on matted frames, 40% on canvas frames, and 40% on glass frames. Selected finalists will receive an honorarium of $1,500 for travel and design fees.
Submissions must include a resume with professional references, a one-to-two page letter of interest describing qualifications and experience (250-500 words), a preliminary concept statement addressing the project theme and approach (250-500 words), and five to fifteen images of previous public art projects with a corresponding slide list. All materials must be submitted online via the CAFÉ application system. There is no application fee. The submission deadline is Thursday, November 30, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. MST.
