About This Call
The Emerald Art Center announces Photography at the Emerald: 3rd Annual Autumn Exhibition 2018, a juried fine art photography competition open to all photographers residing in the United States, 18 or older. The competition features more than $4,000 in cash awards: Best of Show $1,000; Gold Medal $750; Silver Medal $500; Bronze Medal $250; People's Choice $200; Best Wet Chemistry Print $200; Best Mixed Media Print $200, with other awards to be announced. Juror Paula Goodbar, director of the Emerald Art Center, will select up to 90 finalists for the exhibition.
Photographers may submit 1-4 images per entry at $35 for the first image and $5 for each additional image (up to 4 images for $50 total). A maximum of two entries per artist will be included in the exhibition as selected by the juror. All photographs must be no larger than 42" in any direction including frame. Qualifying media include all genres of photography; if the final print includes other mediums, it is considered mixed media and a statement of execution must be provided. The final print must be at least 50% an original photo image. Online entries via CAFE are due Tuesday, July 17th, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified via email on Sunday, July 22nd, 2018.
Accepted works must be shipped "installation ready" with wire hangers (no sawtooth hangers) and received by August 22nd, or hand-delivered August 25th, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. A $25 handling fee applies for shipped artwork ($10 for hand-delivered), refunded if the piece sells. The exhibition runs August 28 through September 28, 2018, at Emerald Art Center, 500 Main Street, Springfield, OR 97477. An artist's reception is scheduled for Saturday, September 1st, 7-9 p.m. Photographs must be for sale; Emerald Art Center retains 35% commission. Artwork will be returned by October 4th (shipped) or picked up Saturday, September 29th, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
