About This Call

Black Box Gallery is hosting an open themed juried group photo show. The exhibition is open to all themes, styles, and genres of photography, including landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature, and night photography.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He received his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has been a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida and juried The Drawers Program for Blue Sky Gallery. Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator and college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.

Submissions must include 1-5 images. Entry fee is $35.00. The entry deadline is August 11, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Exhibition dates are September 1-20, 2020. Black Box Gallery will be open by appointment only during September due to COVID-19. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers must provide a high resolution TIFF or JPEG file. Prints are made on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing will occur without prior consent. Artists may choose for their print to be for exhibition and promotion only, not for sale.
