Photo Shoot: 2018

Black Box Gallery is hosting an open themed juried group photo show. The exhibition is open to all themes, styles, and genres of photography including landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature, and night photography.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He received his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has been a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida (Portland, OR) and juried The Drawers Program for Blue Sky Gallery (Portland, OR). Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator and college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland.

Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit 1-5 images. The deadline is August 9, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Exhibition dates are September 1-20, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, September 7 from 6-8:00 p.m. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery will provide free printing, matting, and framing for all selected exhibitions. Prints will be 12" x 18", 12" x 12", or 12" x 16" in 18" x 24" black frames. Prints are made on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Selected photographers must provide a high resolution TIFF or JPEG file. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery will shred all gallery prints after 5 years of exhibition in the flat files.

Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer. The exhibition print will not be sold but used in the gallery's flatfile to promote the photographer's work, unless the artist prefers otherwise. Photographers will be notified 10-12 days after the deadline about juror selections. The opportunity is open to international applicants.
