Photo Shoot 2017

Black Box Gallery is hosting an open themed juried group photo show. The exhibition is open to all themes, styles, and genres of photography including landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature, and night photography.

Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He received his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has been a photography portfolio reviewer for Photolucida (Portland, OR) and juried The Drawers Program for Blue Sky Gallery (Portland, OR). Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator and college photography instructor for 15 years in Portland.

Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit 1-5 images. The deadline is September 8, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Exhibition dates are October 1-20, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, October 6, 6-8:00 p.m. Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, and an additional 30 photographs will be selected for exhibition in the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers will provide a high resolution TIFF or JPEG file for printing. Prints are made on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the show for future sale and promotion. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that prints not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only. All rights remain with the photographer. Photographers will be notified 10-14 days after the deadline about juror selections.
