About This Call

The Phoenix Airport Museum, in collaboration with the City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, is soliciting artwork from professional artists for the Phoenix Airport Museum's portable works collection. Selected artworks will be purchased and acquired for the collection. Artists that previously applied to the PSHIA Collection Acquisition opportunity are highly encouraged to resubmit their application material to update the application portfolio.

Phoenix Airport Museum is one of the largest and oldest airport art programs in the country, operating within Sky Harbor International Airport. The museum maintains an art collection of more than 900 portable and site-specific works in all mediums and presents themed exhibitions in more than 40 display areas throughout the Airport system. The museum's mission is to enhance the Airport visitor's experience by creating a memorable environment that promotes Arizona's unique artistic and cultural heritage through its art collection, exhibition program, and aviation history collection.

Artists may submit a maximum of five artworks for consideration, with detail images allowed for a maximum of 10 images total. Original two and three-dimensional artworks in all media and styles may be entered except giclées of paintings and canvas-wrapped prints. Submitted artworks should be complete and available for immediate purchase. Applications must include one image per artwork (JPEG format, 300 dpi, approximately 4" x 6"), a resume or CV (3-page limit), and an image list (1-page limit) including media, dimensions, year completed, and artwork price. Only artists who applied to the first release are eligible. This project is open to any professional artist or artist team regardless of residency, race, ethnicity, gender, age, or experience. Arizona artists are strongly encouraged to apply. City of Phoenix employees, Phoenix Arts and Culture Commissioners and their immediate family members, and selection panelists and their immediate families are excluded from participating.
