Personal Space

"Personal Space" is a juried visual art exhibition featuring artworks and imagery that focuses on the human form, the human experience, how people interact, move, and use our bodies, especially in terms of personal space. All explorations of this theme are invited. Artworks in all media, techniques, and styles are encouraged. Open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius.

Five cash Awards of Excellence will be selected by jurors Cbabi Bayoc and Ruth Reese: one $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence and four $100 Awards of Excellence. Award recipients will be eligible for the "Honor Awards 2017" ten-artist curated exhibit (June 17-July 20, 2017), curated by Joe Page. The exhibition will be held at Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, from January 14-February 15, 2017, with a free reception on Saturday, January 14, 6-8 p.m.

Entry fee is $35.00 ($20.00 for Art Saint Louis members). Submissions must include 1-3 original artworks completed between 2013-2016 that respond to the theme. Works must not have been exhibited in any juried exhibit in the St. Louis region during the 6 months prior to the exhibit dates or previously exhibited at Art Saint Louis Gallery. Artwork specifications include: no ceiling-installed or floor-sitting work; 2-d works must be framed with proper hanging hardware; size limits of 6' wide or 7' tall maximum (including frame); sculptures must be pedestal-displayed or wall-hung; no works directly affixed to gallery walls. Judging is conducted online using JPEGs only. Submit up to 2 images per artwork (1 full view required, plus 1 detail or alternate view). Image requirements: JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi/dpi, 5MB maximum. Video submissions accepted in formats 3GP, WMV, AVI, MOV, ASF, MPG, MP4, M2T, MKV, M2TS with minimum 620x480 resolution and 100MB maximum file size. All artworks must have a sale price or be marked Not for Sale with an insurance value. Art Saint Louis retains 30% commission on sales; artist responsible for delivery of sold work to buyer at end of exhibit.
