About This Call
Persistence V is the 5th and final annual Persistence exhibition at The d'Art Center, celebrating Women's History Month with work from female artists across the United States. This juried exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums and styles. The exhibition is open to female artists, 18 or older, residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last eight years. The exhibition will be held in person at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia, and will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.
The exhibition will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Lori Pratico of The Girl Noticed Project. Exhibition dates are Saturday, March 18, 2023 through Tuesday, April 11, 2023, with a reception on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 5:30-7:30pm. Awards include 1st Place: $500, 2nd Place: $300, and 3rd Place: $150. The d'Art Center commission on sales is 60/40 (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center).
Entry fee is $35 for 3 works (one image per submission), with $5 for each additional submission up to a maximum of 10 works. Submissions require 3-10 images. Works cannot exceed 50 pounds or 60 inches in longest dimension, though size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the gallery manager. All 3D works requiring special presentation must include those items, and works requiring complicated specialized installation must be installed by the artist. Accepted works must arrive by 5pm Saturday, March 11, 2023. Notifications will be sent by email by 5pm Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
