About This Call
Persistence is an annual exhibition celebrating Women's History Month, featuring work from female artists across the United States. The exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums. This exhibition is only open to female artists, 18 or older, residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. The exhibition receives over 600 submissions from over 200 female artists annually.
The exhibition is held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia, located at 740 Boush Street in the NEON District. Exhibition dates are Saturday, March 13th through Wednesday, March 31st, 2021. The d'Art Center will host an in-person public reception according to state COVID guidelines, stream the reception awards on Facebook Live, upload the award video to YouTube, and list exhibiting pieces for sale on the d'Art Center website. The exhibition is co-curated by Amanda Bradley and juror Lori Pratico, founder of the Girl Noticed Community Mural Project.
Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 works (one image per submission) and $5.00 for each additional submission (maximum of 10 total submissions, one image per submission). Applicants must submit 3-10 images. Awards include 1st Place: $500.00, 2nd Place: $300.00, and 3rd Place: $150.00. Works cannot exceed 40 pounds or be longer/larger than 60 inches in their longest dimension. All work must be hang/presentation ready. Accepted works must arrive between March 2nd and March 6th, 2021. Hand-delivered works are accepted by pre-arrangement.
