About This Call
Persistence II is a second annual exhibition featuring work from female artists across the United States. The exhibition is open to functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in all mediums. This exhibition honors Women's History Month and 2020, the Year of the Woman, and is open to all female artists, 18 or older, residing in the United States. The exhibition is held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia, a thirty-year-old art center located in the NEON district that includes working professional artist studios and provides exhibitions and programming open to the public.
Eligibility requirements: All work must be original and created without the aid of an instructor or kit. Work must have been produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Works cannot exceed 40 pounds or be longer/larger than 48 inches in its longest dimension. All 2D works must be equipped with hanging hardware. All 3D works requiring presentation other than standard pedestals must include those displays. Works requiring special installation must include clear instructions.
Submission details: Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for consideration. Entry fee is $35.00. Images required: minimum 1, maximum 3. Exhibition dates: March 9-31, 2020. Reception: Thursday, March 12, 2020, 5:30-7:30pm. Notifications by email by 5pm, Friday, February 21, 2020. Accepted works must arrive by March 3, 2020. Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. Commission for sales: 60% artist/40% d'Art Center. The exhibition will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Lori Pratico. Artist is responsible for all shipping costs. Works must include pre-paid return labels through FedEx or UPS. Works not picked up within one month of exhibition end become property of the d'Art Center.
