About This Call
Persistence is a national exhibition featuring work from female artists across the United States, held at the d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The exhibition is open to functional and non-functional work in all mediums, including 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft. In honor of Women's History Month, this exhibition is open to all female artists, 18 or older, residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. The d'Art Center is Norfolk's thirty-year-old art center located in the NEON district, featuring working professional artist studios and a variety of exhibitions and programming open to the public.
The exhibition runs from Saturday, March 9th through Saturday, March 30th, 2019, with a reception on Thursday, March 14th from 5:30-7:30pm. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for a $35.00 entry fee. Work samples must include 1-3 images. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). Accepted artists will be notified by email by 5pm on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019. Accepted works must arrive by March 5th, 2019.
Work cannot exceed 40 pounds. All 2D works must be equipped with hanging hardware. All 3D works requiring presentation other than standard pedestals must include those displays. Works requiring special installation must include clear instructions, and complicated installations must be completed by the artist. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage to artworks. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs to and from the gallery and must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx. Works without return labels or not picked up within one month after the exhibition ends become property of the d'Art Center. Commission for sold works is 60% (artist) / 40% (d'Art Center), not including awards. For exhibition questions, contact [email protected].
