About This Call
Since 2009, the David A Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts has partnered with National Sculpture Society to bring a series of rotating sculpture exhibitions to the Tampa, Florida arts and theater facility. The exhibitions are open exclusively to NSS Fellow and Elected Sculptor Members and run approximately two years in length.
The exhibition is only open to NSS Fellows and Elected Sculptor Members whose dues are paid in full. All entries are subject to jury and will be juried anonymously from high quality images. This is an open-themed show for a family arts and theater facility. Sculptures may be in any permanent medium. Works of all sizes will be considered, but they may not exceed 250 pounds. All works must fit in the doorway of the Straz Center's Carol Morsani Hall, which measures 58 inches wide by 95 inches high. Each sculptor may submit up to three works with two views of each piece.
The receipt deadline for submission is July 13, 2015. Selection jury reviews submissions July 14-28, 2015, with notification sent to all applicants on July 29, 2015. Information due back from artists (high-resolution images, signed contract, submission specifics) is August 14, 2015. Work should be received in Tampa August 3–September 11, 2015. The exhibit opens at the Straz Center on September 21, 2015, with unsold works shipped back to artists in June 2017. The Jury of Selection is composed of at least one sculptor, one curator and one or more Straz Center representatives. Straz Center will pay for all installation, de-installation and return shipping costs of the chosen work. Sculptors are responsible for the cost of initial shipping of their work.
