About This Call

Campbell Community Center, a senior center that opened in 1964, is seeking site-specific artwork for its renovation and expansion project. A total of $66,000 is available for the purchase of site-specific art, including artist fees, fabrication, insurance, shipping, travel, installation, documentation, and all other project costs.

The scope of work includes increasing the building's square footage from 8,000 to 14,500 square feet, with a new addition featuring a great room, enclosed courtyard with security fence, fitness classrooms, renovated lobby area, and increased interior lighting. Potential art locations include the main entryway into the courtyard, exterior walls facing the river bike path, fence applications, storm water run-off areas, acoustic tile applications, and the entryway. Artists may apply individually or as a team and must demonstrate the ability to create permanent public artwork. This commission is open to professional artists located and working within Oregon who have previous experience serving as a principal artist on a public commission with an art budget of at least $10,000.

Submissions must be received via Café by 11:59 PM MST on December 31st, 2019. Required materials include 8 JPEG images (no larger than 1200x1200, under 5MB each), an optional video (up to 3 minutes), a letter of interest (maximum 2,000 characters), artist resume (2 pages maximum), an image identification list, and 3 professional references. The Art Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on artistry, technique, materials, and artist's statement. Three finalists will be invited to create site-specific proposals and will each receive a $1,000 stipend. Finalists will have 6 weeks to prepare proposals. Notifications will be posted by February 15th, 2020. The installation target is March 2021.
