Peoria Art Guild: Guess You Had to be There

Peoria Art Guild presents Guess You Had To Be There, a biannual installation art exhibition taking place February 20-21 at the Gateway Building in downtown Peoria, IL. The exhibition welcomes artists who create installation art in any medium, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, print media, ceramics, fiber arts, graphic arts, and time-based works. There is no theme for the call; PAG seeks proposals that offer new ways of considering installation or furthering the understanding of the discipline and how it can intersect with other mediums.

Artists may submit already completed works or proposals for site-specific work. The exhibition space includes the grand ballroom, foyer, stairwell, building exterior, and projects outside the building. Artists are encouraged to experiment with unconventional display and exhibition formats and will be responsible for installation of their work. Proposals will be reviewed by PAG's Exhibitions Committee (professional artists, curators, and art educators) based on quality of the proposal and prior work, responsiveness to the specific context of the Peoria Art Guild and Gateway Building, and feasibility of the project. $3,000 in prize money will be awarded during the opening reception on February 20, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Entry fee is $35.00 (Peoria Art Guild members receive a $15 coupon). Applicants must submit 5-15 digital images of recent work in JPEG format (minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, maximum 1.8 MB file size), a resume/CV, and a brief artist's statement relevant to the work submitted. All work must be original and completed within the last 2 years and must not have been previously exhibited at PAG. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return of work. PAG handles sales transactions and receives a 30% commission from gallery sales.
