Pentwater Public Arts: Sculpture Walk 2024/25

Pentwater is a lakeside community in West Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan, north of Muskegon and south of Ludington. The Pentwater Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) organization, is seeking sculpture entries for the 2024/25 Sculpture Walk. The exhibition will run from June 1, 2024 through May 31, 2025. Previous sculpture walks in 2022 and 2023 resulted in two sculpture purchases each year, with four works now having permanent homes in the downtown area. The PAC is looking for entries reflecting themes such as Pentwater history, water, nature, flora and fauna, the seasons, and produce grown in Oceana County (asparagus, blueberries, cherries, apples, etc.).

Artists may submit up to three separate entries. Artwork must be of professional quality, may use any variety of materials, and must not require maintenance throughout the exhibit. Pieces must be safe, professionally designed and constructed, and able to be securely bolted to or embedded in a concrete pad or sit safely on the ground. Artwork should be sturdy, durable, and suitable for long-term outdoor exhibition. Each entry requires a minimum of three images from different perspectives and a maximum of ten. The base must be visible in at least one image. Kinetic artwork may include one video submission. Applicants must include a written description with title, medium, dimensions, weight, date of construction, sale price, and detailed installation method. Professional and emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and all artwork must be original and executed by the applicant.

Selected artists will receive a $3,000 honorarium payable after successful installation. Additional award money has been raised for a "Best of Show" award and a purchase award. The artist is responsible for transportation, installation, and insurance of the artwork, as well as removal if not purchased. The PAC will provide assistance with installation, identification plaques, and commercial liability insurance. An artist celebration is planned for late May 2025 to present awards.
