Pennsylvania Modern Architecture Juried Photo Exhibit

Presented by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in association with the Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation, this juried photo exhibit celebrates the 50th anniversary of The State Museum of Pennsylvania and Archives Complex in Harrisburg. The exhibit will be on display at The State Museum of Pennsylvania from October 25, 2015 to February 28, 2016, and will focus on Pennsylvania's wide variety of modern architecture. Submissions should feature photographs of mid-twentieth century architecture constructed in Pennsylvania between 1930 and 1980, including exteriors, interiors, and details of roadside architecture, schools, religious buildings, homes, commercial and recreational structures, and other modern buildings. Photographs of the historic State Museum and Archives Complex itself are especially encouraged.

Open to legal residents of Pennsylvania 18 years of age and older. All levels of skill are welcome, from photo enthusiast to professional. Employees and their immediate family members or board members of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, the Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation, and PHMC Associate Group employees and board members are not eligible. Entry fee is $30 and covers up to three digital images taken since January 1, 2012. Only digital submissions via www.callforentry.org are eligible. Entries will be judged by a panel of experts based on relevance to the Pennsylvania modern architecture theme, composition, technique, and originality.

Purchase awards include $1,000 for Best in Show and $500 for Best Photograph of State Museum and Archives Complex. Award-winning photographs will become the property of PHMC and part of its permanent collection. Photographers will retain copyright but allow PHMC to exhibit, display, and use the photographs for educational and promotional purposes. All accepted photographers will be notified by email no later than August 10, 2015. Accepted artwork must be delivered or shipped at the photographer's own expense and framed at their own expense. All artwork must be ready to hang and may be no larger than 10 feet x 10 feet.
