About This Call
The Pence Gallery announces the Emerging Artist Award 2024, supporting the creation of new work by emerging artists in California. The award of $4,000 must be used to further the artist's work in a significant direction. Winners will have the opportunity to share their work through an exhibit and an artist talk in January 2025.
Artists may work in any medium except video or sound art. Eligibility requires living in California at the time of application and being 18 or older. 'Emerging' is defined as an artist early in their career with limited exhibit experience but not an extensive solo exhibit history. Submitted work must be of high caliber, original, and completed within the past five years.
Applications must include a resume with exhibit history and education, an artist statement, and 5-10 digital images of current work submitted via www.callforentry.org. The application fee is $30 ($25 for Pence members). The deadline is April 4, 2024 at 9 PM PST. The winner will be announced by April 30th. This award is sponsored by Rosa Marquez & Yatish Mishra.
