Pence Gallery Emerging Artist Award 2020

The Pence Gallery announces the Emerging Artist Award 2020, open to emerging artists in California. This award supports the creation of new work by emerging artists and the opportunity to share that work through an exhibit and artist talk. Artists may work in any medium, except for video or sound art.

'Emerging' is defined as an artist who is early in their art career, with solid studies in art, and exhibit experience in group shows, but not an extensive solo exhibit history. The qualifications for this award are that the artist's submitted work is of high caliber, original, and completed within the past five years. Artists must be dedicated to the practice of making and exhibiting art, and need financial support. The award is limited to artists residing in California and will be determined by a panel of experts and donors.

This award is underwritten by donors James R. and Suzette M. Smith and offers $3,000 and a solo exhibit at the Pence Gallery in January 2021. Applications must include a CV or resume, an Artist Statement, and 10-15 JPGs. The application fee is $30 ($25 for Pence members). The entry deadline is April 17, 2020 at 9 PM PST. The winner will be announced by April 24th.
