About This Call
Dallas Texas area artists are invited to explore the visual and spiritual richness of the 23rd Psalm through the creation of new and original works of art in their preferred style and medium. No entry fee is required. Each artist may submit up to four entries with only one entry per theme: The Shepherd's Provision (Psalm 23:1-3), The Shepherd's Protection (Psalm 23:4), The Shepherd's Care (Psalm 23:5), and The Shepherd's Promise (Psalm 23:6).
Principal jurors Anne Johnson and Patricia Meadows will select the top ten works from each theme to receive Juror Recognition Awards. One work from each theme will receive a $1,000 Juror's Best-in-Theme Award. Viewers of the exhibition will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite piece, and the work receiving the most votes will receive a $1,500 People's Choice Award.
The arts festival is open to all artists living in the area who are 18 years or older. Generally, works will be accepted on paper, canvas, and fabric, as well as photography and sculpture. Crafts including jewelry, kits, copies, or prints will not be accepted. Work accepted must be appropriately framed and ready for wall mounting, not exceeding 48" in any direction. Glazing for works must be Plexiglas only. Sculpture footprint cannot be more than 36" x 36" and must be installed by the artist, with volunteer assistance if needed. All accepted entries will be available for sale on consignment during the exhibit, with the artist receiving 75% of the determined price and PCPC Arts Festival retaining 25% to cover administrative expenses. The festival runs May 4-12, 2007 at the former Park Cities Motors Building, 4101 Oak Lawn Ave., Dallas TX 75219. Digital entry submission deadline is February 23, 2007.
