PAUSE: An Open Call for Photographic Works

PAUSE: An Open Call for Photographic Works invites photographers to consider how they capture memories and what drives their artistic intention. The exhibition seeks photographic works representing deliberateness, encouraging artists to select pieces from their personal archives that best showcase their artistic expression. This open call welcomes all self-identifying photographers internationally. All photographic mediums including digital, film, mixed media, collage, and non-traditional processes are invited to participate. 3D works are eligible if two-thirds of the work utilizes a photographic medium as the primary medium. Video works will not be considered.

The exhibition runs May 4-25, 2024 at Art League RI Gallery, 80 Fountain Street, Suite 107A, Pawtucket, RI 02860. Juror Frances Jakubek, an image-maker, independent curator, and consultant for artists, will select works. Awards include a best-in-show award winner eligible for a 1-on-1 discussion with the juror, plus cash prizes for First, Second, and Third Place.

Entry deadline is April 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Entry fee is $35.00 with an additional $10.00 media fee. Artists must submit 1-3 images and/or up to 3 videos (minimum 1 total sample). Accepted artists will be notified by April 12, 2024. Artwork must be exhibition-ready, under 50x50" when installed, and presented with appropriate hardware (d-rings and wire for framed work). Artwork previously exhibited with ALRI is not permitted. All work must be original; reprints and copied work will not be exhibited. In-person drop-off is April 24-26, 1-4 p.m. by appointment, or artwork may be shipped to arrive by April 26, 2024. A return shipping label must be included with all submitted work. The opening reception is Saturday, May 4, 2024, 5-7 p.m., free and open to the public. Artwork pick-up is May 29-31, 1-4 p.m. by appointment, or return shipment will occur by June 15, 2024.
