Patterning: A National Call for Art

Patterning is a national exhibition open to all artists aged 18 or older residing in the US. Artists are encouraged to submit 2D and 3D work that explores the use of patterns within the piece, where patterning can manifest as the repetition of line, shape, color, or theme. The exhibition is open to any theme or medium, except video and floor or ceiling-hung installations. Framed wall pieces must be wired for hanging and no larger than 48" x 48". All wall works on paper must be framed. Three-dimensional works must not exceed 32" x 32" x 60" or weigh more than 50 pounds. Unassembled work must come with detailed assembly instructions. All work must be the original conception and execution of the artist listed on the application, with no reproductions accepted. Work previously exhibited at Webster Arts gallery is not eligible.

Submit up to 10 JPEG digital images (1000-1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 PPI, 5 MB maximum). Entry fee is $25 for the first three images, $5 for each additional entry up to 10 images. Entry fees are non-refundable. The submission deadline is August 22, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. All artists will be notified by email on August 29, 2025.

Selected works are expected to be shipped to or dropped off at Webster Arts by September 24, 2025. The exhibition runs September 30 - November 7, 2025, with an opening reception on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at Webster Arts Gallery, 2 Summit Avenue, Webster Groves, MO 63119. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must include a return shipping label. Webster Arts receives a 30% commission on all exhibition sales.
