Pastels USA 37th Annual - 99 Voices In Pastel International Exhibition

The Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC) invites artists to submit work for Pastels USA 37th Annual - 99 Voices In Pastel International Exhibition. This juried competition features three categories: Modern and Experimental (juror: Marcia Holmes), Contemporary Impressionism including plein air (juror: Tony Allain), and Contemporary Realism (juror: Cuong Nguyen).

Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all artists over 18 years old. Work must be created with dry pastels only (no oil pastels), with at least 80% of the piece composed of dry pastel. Paintings based on photographs must use photos taken by the artist themselves. No optical projection, student work under instructor supervision, or work completed more than four years ago is eligible. Compositions cannot be taken from published photos or other artists' work. Work previously accepted into any PSWC Pastels USA competition or the 2023 PSWC MOOS exhibition is not eligible. A maximum of one painting per artist will be accepted into the exhibit.

Submission Details: Entry fees are $60 for 3 entries, with each additional entry at $15 (up to 5 paintings for $90). Fees are non-refundable; overpayments will be donated to the PSWC Annual Scholarship Fund. Submit high-quality JPEG files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images must be cropped to show only the artwork with correct orientation. The entry deadline is June 19, 2023. After submission and payment, you may log back in to review, edit, and substitute images until the deadline. Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline, and incomplete entries will be disqualified.
