About This Call
The Pastel Society of Maine invites soft pastel artists from the United States and Canada to submit work for the 24th Pastel Society of Maine Open Juried Exhibition. Up to 100 paintings will be juried into the exhibit. Each artist may submit up to 3 entries, with a maximum of 2 pieces per artist accepted into the show.
Entry fees are $35 for PSME members (with current membership dues) or $45 for non-members. Work must be completed in the past 2 years and comprised of at least 80% soft pastels (no oil pastel). All subjects and styles are acceptable except erotic and overtly political works. Paintings must be original compositions not copied from other artists' work and not created under instructor supervision in a class or workshop. There is no size limit. Submitted images must be in focus and cropped to show only the painting (no pins, tape, mats, or frames). Work marked as not for sale (NFS) is allowed; all other work must have a sale price. A 10% donation to PSME is requested on all sales during the show.
Awards include: President's Award ($200), Memorial Award ($150), Pastel Society of America ($100), Connecticut Pastel Society ($100), Pastel Society of New Hampshire ($100), Central Massachusetts Pastel Society ($100), and Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod ($100). Accepted artists will be notified by email. Entry fees are non-refundable. Artists must have access to a US mailing address and are responsible for payment and delivery of artwork. PSME accepts no liability in sales or shipping. For questions, contact Terrilynn Dubreuil at [email protected] or [email protected].
