About This Call
Yamana Gold invites artists to participate in "Passion to Perform," an art competition celebrating the company's success and core values of sustainability, dependability, respect for the environment and communities, and colleague safety. Artists are invited to create a work of art entitled "Passion to Perform" motivated by the company and its principles. The title serves as a guide only; literal interpretation is not required. Submitted artworks can be in the form of paintings, photography, sculptures, and drawings. Winning submissions will be displayed on communication materials and in Yamana Gold's corporate offices in Toronto, Canada.
The competition is open to any person practicing art, with one entry per person. The initial entry is made online through the CaFE system. Approximately 35 artists will be short listed and invited to record a 60-second video presenting their artwork and creative motivation. Short listed artists will then deliver their actual works through a regional collection process sponsored by the company. The cost of shipment and insurance for short listed entries will be borne by the company. Entrants must submit digital images with a resolution of 300 DPI or higher and specify the artwork price in the online registration form. Artwork values cannot exceed U$1,500. Prize awards are: first prize $6,000, second prize $2,500, and third prize $1,000. The corporation has also established a fund for acquiring additional artworks from short listed submissions for its private collection.
Key dates: Competition opens December 2; deadline for online entries is February 7 by 5pm EST (or earlier if 1,000 entries are reached); short list notifications and video instructions are emailed by February 14; final judging results and award notices are announced by March 7. Works entered must be original compositions created by the entrant with no maximum size or specific dimensions. Prize-winning artworks become the property of Yamana Gold and will not be returned. All artists agree to participate in media interviews and public relations events to promote their work and the competition.
